About the Organization
The UP Economics Society (UP EcoSoc) is a non-stock, non-profit, socio-civic organization based in the School of Economics, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. It was founded in September 1958 by a group of honor students in the College of Business Administration who wanted to maximize the potentials of those who took Economics as a minor field.
Throughout its 52 years of existence, the UP EcoSoc has operated under its three thrusts of service, tradition, and excellence. It has won numerous awards, including the Wenceslao Vinzons Award for Best Organization, the Presidential Award for Most Outstanding Organization, and the Oblation Award for Best Student Organization. Most recently, it won Best Party Event at the Astrong-O-Sol Challenge for Solstice: Dating Marathon Till the Break of Dawn during its golden anniversary.
Today, it hosts daycare sessions every Saturday for children from Pook Ricarte, as well as tutorial sessions every Monday for students from the Balara Elementary School. It also sends seven deserving scholars to high school through the Economics Society Scholarship Fund (ESSF).
